 Colorful Toy Kittens and a Plush Mouse

Toy cats in crochet can be any color you choose.  It's part of the magic of handmade stuffed animals.  As cat owners know, felines come in many colors and color-combinations.  But the only place you'll find kittens and cats in pink and blue is in a handmade plush animal, such as these found in my Etsy Shop.

The minute I saw this pink yarn, I thought of the movie and song “Pink Panther', a long-time favorite of mine. The movie cat, Pink Panther, is long and skinny, but my little roly-poly pink kitten is just as charming. Hand-crocheted in acrylic yarn and filled with a soft polyester fiberfill, she measures a nice, round 4.5 inches by 4 inches. Her tail is another 3 inches.  Pink kitty cat has blue eyes and a black nose and whiskers, which are embroidered in yarn and embroidery thread.  She's a sweet pink cat purr-fect for girls of any age, from babyhood to college age.  Pink is lovely, but what about little boys?

Teal is a delightful shade of blue that appeals to little boys.  Boys like cats too, so Teal Tomcat was created in crochet just for them.  The pattern style is the same as the pink cat, but this Teal cat has 4 white paws to contrast his teal body.  He could also be a Turquoise Tomcat, which is another word for this shade of blue. Teal Tomcat measures 4 x 4 inches overall, with soft stuffing and embroidered features, making him safe and secure for any age child.

If you don't have a need for a crocheted cat, but love cats in general, here's the perfect household accessory.  A set of cat coasters to hold your coffee or tea cup or beverage of your choice. Or they can be 'Playtime Coasters' for children to use at a 'tea party' with their plush cat.

These cat coasters are handmade using plastic canvas and acrylic yarn.  The set includes 4 coasters, each one done in a different color, which fit into a holder for storage.

The coaster holder is a cat box in blue with K I T T Y spelled out in light blue letters on the front and a gold fish, a pink ball of yarn and a gray mouse decorating the other three sides of the box.

Mindy the Handmade Mouse

We all know that cats like mice, so I'd be remiss if I didn't show off a cute hand-crocheted Mouse.

Come meet Mindy, the Amigurumi stuffed animal Mouse who is also a member of my Roly-Poly Plush Pets Stuffed Toy Animal line. Mindy is delighted to be here, but stays away from the 'cats' also living in my Etsy shop.

Mindy the Mouse is made with a light gray and pink acrylic yarn and filled with soft polyfil stuffing.  Her eyes, nose and whiskers are embroidered in yarn, so she's a completely safe toy even for babies and toddlers, with no removable parts.  She measures 6 x 5 inches -- a nice roly-poly roundness that is just the right size for little hands to hold.  Babies love to grasp the ears and feet and use them for teething! A toy mouse is the very best kind of mouse to have in the house!

Plush Zoo Animals

Playtime Zoo Animal Plushies are favorites with children and grown-ups alike.  It's hard to resist animals that have become familiar from trips to the zoo, so I've created a world of these toy animals for my Etsy Zoo, and it's growing. Let's take a walk and check them out.

Hand-Crocheted Toy Giraffe

Jellyroll Giraffe is a cute plush toy.  Handmade in yarn in the Amigurumi style of crochet, he got his name from the fact that his favorite food is a big, squishy jellyroll donut instead of the 'shoots and leaves' most giraffes eat. Of course, being a stuffed animal, he doesn't really eat those donuts, but enjoys watching people eat them and laughs when the jelly oozes out all over their fingers.

Jellyroll is currently living at Coastal Crochet Crafts on Etsy, but would prefer to live in a child's playroom.  He definitely does not want to live outside in the wild like all those giraffes found in jungles who grow from 16 to 20 feet tall, since he's only about 9 inches tall (if you count the horns on top of his head).

Luke the Plush Lion

While walking around my shop zoo, don't be startled by this lion.  His name is Luke and he is a very friendly, soft and cuddly stuffed toy lion created in yarn in a 5” x 5” roly-poly round shape.  Luke hardly ever roars as he likes to do 'quiet' things, like reading and playing board games.  Luke the plush lion is a darling stuffed animal just the right size for little hands to hold.

A Pink Elephant?  Why not.  Plush stuffed toy animals are magical, so they can be any color you want.  This elephant chose pink because it's her favorite color.

This pretty pink pachyderm in plush handmade crochet makes a perfect baby shower gift for a new baby girl or a darling cuddly stuffed animal for any little girl who loves both the color pink and elephants.

Plush pink elephant measures 9 inches tall and about 7 inches wide across her arms and legs. She is handmade in crochet using pink acrylic yarn with a pink and gray ombre yarn used for the pads of the arms and legs and the inside of the ears. Her eyes are embroidered in gray.

These crocheted zoo animals currently live at Coastal Crochet Crafts on Etsy and look forward to moving to a toybox near you.  One or two zoo animals may be temporarily absent from my Etsy Animal Zoo. Peter the Handmade in Crochet Puppy Dog

This plush puppy is named Peter. He's a round, roly-poly toy puppy hand-crocheted in white yarn with black ears and a black patch around one eye.  His features are embroidered in yarn. Peter puppy measures 5 x 5 inches and is 14-1/2 inches around his plump body softly stuffed with polyfil. He has black paws and a white tail.

Peter's puppy friend Patches is crocheted in tan and brown yarn.  He measures 4-1/2 inches x 5 inches and is about 13 inches around.  His body is tan, and his ears and paws are brown. Patches got his name from the brown patch around one of his brown eyes.

Puppy Dog 'Coasters for Kids'

Handmade playtime coasters in a puppy dog theme would be a fun addition to a little girl's play kitchen or to use for her toy animal tea parties. The puppy coasters would also enjoy being part of a child's imaginative playtime stories. 

Each of the four coasters is in a different color combination and shows the puppies sitting in front of a red dog house.

The coasters measure 4-1/2 inches high and 4 inches wide.  They come in their own doggy bed holder which measures about 5 x 5 inches. The holder is red and each side is decorated with two black paws and a white bone. A fun set of beverage coasters for dog-lovers.

A larger stuffed toy dog is also in my Etsy Toybox. 

Handmade and hugable, this plush dog is tan with brown ears and brown features.  He is 16 inches tall (10 inches tall in a sitting position) and 6 inches wide and is filled with fluffy fiberfil.  This plush dog wears a dog collar created in crochet. Attached is a dog tag handmade with plastic canvas and yarn. Plush dog is very cute and cuddly.

Plush puppies require no care except an occasional cuddle.  Real puppies need lots of walking, feeding and loving.  This book helps teach a child how to be responsible for a new puppy.

Dolphins are a very sociable and playful sea animal. The crocheted plush dolphins in my Etsy Shop are as playful as any in the ocean. In the wild, bottlenose dolphins are found in the shallow waters of warm seas around the world. They live in groups, called pods, and the group often works together to harvest fish to eat.

Most bottlenose dolphins are gray with a lighter gray belly. This plush Bottlenose Dolphin is a crocheted, stuffed toy version of a favorite sea animal. He is handmade in two shades of gray acrylic yarn and filled with a soft polyester fiberfil. Gray dolphin is ready to swim his way into your heart. And at 14-1/2 inches long and 8 inches across his side fins, he's the perfect size to hold and love.  This gray dolphin has sold, but another can be created upon request at Coastal Crochet Crafts on Etsy.

Besides the gray bottlenose dolphin, there are other kinds of dolphins that are dark gray with a white belly and also black and white like an Orca whale. Then there is a very rare kind of dolphin, mostly found in the Amazon River in South America, which is pink in color. It's actually an albino dolphin. I read a fascinating article about pink dolphins  and the story gave me the idea to create a toy pink dolphin in crochet. I used a bright pink yarn for the topside and a lighter pink yarn for the underside. The pink yarn makes me consider this plush version a girl dolphin! She measures 14 inches long and 9 inches across her side fins and is stuffed with a soft, squeezable fiberfil. 

Dolphins mostly eat fish and squid. These crocheted toy dolphins don't eat anything, making it very easy to care for them. They are very patient and won't mind if you go have dinner or a snack. They happily wait for you to come back and play.

I bet you can guess which football team is the favorite of these plush toy dolphins. Of course, it's the Miami Dolphins! When you think about it, a regulation size football is 11.5 inches x 6.5 inches, so these toy dolphins are close to the same size. Because they are a soft toy, they can easily be 'tossed around' much like a football.

When it's bedtime, you and your plush dolphin can cuddle together and snuggle under a warm dolphin fleece blanket. This warm soft throw is lightweight and at 58 x 80 inches it is just the right size for keeping you and your toy dolphin warm anytime.  

This blanket has a 'swimming sea dolphins' design of a photo in full color printing and is machine washable and dryable.  It is available on Amazon.
