Toy Dolphins hand-crocheted in
soft plush are delightfully hugable for kids, and great for
collectors of dolphins and other sea creatures.

Dolphins at Play
Dolphins are a very sociable and playful sea animal. The crocheted plush dolphins in my Etsy Shop are as playful as any in the ocean. In the wild, bottlenose dolphins are found in the shallow waters of warm seas around the world. They live in groups, called pods, and the group often works together to harvest fish to eat.

Pink Plush Dolphin
Pink Toy Dolphin in Crochet |
Besides the gray bottlenose
dolphin, there are other kinds of dolphins that are dark gray with a
white belly and also black and white like an Orca whale. Then there is
a very rare kind of dolphin, mostly found in the Amazon River in
South America, which is pink in color. It's actually an albino
dolphin. I read a fascinating article about pink dolphins and the story gave me the idea to create a toy pink dolphin in
crochet. I used a bright pink yarn for the topside and a lighter
pink yarn for the underside. The pink yarn makes me consider this
plush version a girl dolphin! She measures 14 inches long and 9
inches across her side fins and is stuffed with a soft, squeezable
fiberfil.
Dolphins mostly eat fish and squid.
These crocheted toy dolphins don't eat anything, making it very easy
to care for them. They are very patient and won't mind if you go have
dinner or a snack. They happily wait for you to come back and play.
I bet you can guess which football team
is the favorite of these plush toy dolphins. Of course, it's the
Miami Dolphins! When you think about it, a regulation size
football is 11.5 inches x 6.5 inches, so these toy dolphins are close
to the same size. Because they are a soft toy, they can easily be
'tossed around' much like a football.

More Sea Creatures
Several of my other crocheted sea critters are just as much fun as these toy
bottlenose dolphins.
My Baby Harp Seal is happily playing while waiting his turn to join your family. A toy gray harbor seal and a plush walrus can all be seen with the little harp seal in their story about Two Seals and a Walrus.
